RISE: Life Skills Development

RISE builds girls’ proficiency in life skills, healthy decision-making, leadership, and knowledge of social systems. Women’s rights and social justice are central to the program.

Program Overview

Rise is a safe space openly discuss and discover cultures, identities, and emotional health needs of young women through reflective journalism and workshops on a series of topics including: anti-oppression, LGBTQ issues, history of women’s rights, body image, knowing your rights with police, healthy relationships, stress and depression, substance use, and community activism.

Community Engagement

Our girls get to know our city and apply their skills through field trips including self-defense classes, community gardening, women’s clinic tour, and more!

Highlights

Extensive learning on healthy relationships, sexual harassment, body image, safer sex, self-defense, and nutrition support girls’ needs and learning.
