POSITION SUMMARY:

Oasis For Girls is seeking a highly qualified full-time Program Director to supervise three Program Leaders in planning, implementing, and evaluating Oasis’ three core programs as well as Community Activity Days. 

The Program Director is a full-time, exempt position, with a hybrid work schedule of 40 hours a week.  The Program Director will need to be in the office during program hours and special events,and will be expected to flex their schedule as needed to stay within 40 hours a week.  

Schedule:

From September to mid-June, in-person hours are expected to be Tuesday-Thursdays 2:30-7:00 PM and Mondays/Fridays 3:30 - 6:30 PM. Between mid-June and August, in-person hours are expected to be Tuesday-Thursdays 12:30-6:30 PM and Mondays/Fridays 2:30 - 6:30 PM. Hours may differ during special events (e.g. Orientation, Family Open House, Graduation, and select days in between program cycles will be virtual), interim program periods, as well as include occasional weekend hours.

Salary range $70,000-$75,000.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

SUPERVISION AND TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, train, and evaluate the RISE, CREATE, and ENVISION Program Leaders.

  • Provide on-going guidance, and leadership in weekly individual meetings with each direct report.

  • Plan and facilitate weekly department collaboration meetings to improve programming quality, adherence to procedures, and team dynamics.

  • Review staff performance annually and develop corrective action/ performance improvement plans as needed.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

  • Oversee program staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating all core programs: RISE: Life Skills Education and ENVISION: Career Exploration, and CREATE: Arts and Activism

  • Oversee program outreach to educational institutions and the greater community organizations through scheduling outreach events, developing relationships, participating in community/high school fairs, and creating recruitment materials and social media. Supervise Program Leaders during outreach process

  • Oversee the Oasis program application and enrollment process, including interviewing, selection, and notification of participants. Supervise Program Leaders during the process

  • Plan and implement cross-program events, including Orientation, Open House, Career Event, Wellness Event, and Graduation in collaboration with the Program Leaders. Coordinate occasional field trips, picnics and other special events for Oasis participants and alumnae

  • Plan and implement weekly Community Activity Days (workshops open to non-Oasis youth). 

  • Maintain and update the Oasis for Girls Programming Manual. Work closely with Program Leaders and the Executive Director to update program curriculum, as needed

  • Further develop the Oasis Way materials to provide consistency among programs and assist in staff training and capacity building

  • Manage and oversee the evaluation of the agency’s core programs by implementing surveys and focus groups, analyzing evaluation data, and coordinating cross-program event evaluations

  • Utilize evaluation results to partner with Oasis staff and make program improvements as necessary and within organizational scope

  • Provide technical advice, problem-solving assistance, and strategic analysis related to programmatic goals to the programs team

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a new alumnae engagement program to provide a continuum of support and involvement for alumnae, as well as methods to assess the long-term impact of Oasis programming.

  • Assist with the development of long- and short-range goals in line with the strategic plan, such as staff planning, budget planning, and program planning.

COMPLIANCE AND RISK/CRISIS MANAGEMENT:

  • Ensure programs meet all requirements set by DCYF for after-school programs

  • Ensure programs and services comply with contracts and funding requirements

  • Develop and implement safety protocols for onsite programs and for when programs are off-site (field trips, external events, etc)

  • Participate with the staff leadership team in the development and implementation of policies and programs that contribute to Oasis’ success

  • Assist Program Leaders with any issues or concerns presented by program participants, including mental health, familial, and educational. Refer girls to services outside of Oasis as needed

  • Ensure the safety of all participants and staff during any and all crises, including child abuse, suicide prevention, family crises, and foster care youth

FINANCIAL:

  • Develop and manage the program budget in consultation with the Executive Director

  • Collaborate with the ED to analyze financial data to predict program and service resource needs

MARKETING & OUTREACH:

  • Partner with Executive Director & volunteer social media team to provide program statistics and qualitative content for social media, marketing materials and grant proposals/reports, including the preparation and synthesis of program statistics

  • Partner with the Executive Director to plan funder site visits and donor engagement events, including oversight of Oasis alumnae engagement

  • Represent the organization at meetings and events and collaborate with community groups to strengthen and expand Oasis’ programs

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct clerical tasks as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Child Development & Family Studies, Ethnic Studies, Women’s Studies, Community Studies, Education, or related field, OR equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 3+ years of experience working with middle or high school students, BIPOC, and diverse populations

  • 3+ years of experience leading teams or supervising staff

  • 2+ years of experience project or program management experience

  • 4+ years of experience in youth development programming, including outreach and recruitment, program development and planning, curriculum development, and program coordination

  • Experience with nonprofit budget management, operations, and organizational/staffing structures

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of youth development; commitment to social justice

  • Comfortable with facilitating sessions in a large group

  • Able to provide support for students who may be experiencing crisis

  • Responsible, organized, and excellent communication skills

  • Maturity, empathy, and strong sense of self

  • Strong working knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets and Slides and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of products on a Mac-based platform

  • Ability to develop strong relationships and work closely with diverse stakeholders, including board members, staff, volunteers, students, parents, funders, and community partners

  • Strong work ethic and ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment, prioritize among competing pressing issues, take initiative, pay attention to details, and meet deadlines effectively

  • Willingness to embrace challenges, be flexible, and find creative solutions that fit within established priorities

  • Enthusiasm for working as a member of a small team committed to a strong sense of teamwork, growth, and transparency

  • Bilingual in Spanish, Tagalog, Cantonese, Vietnamese language desired

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Employee is required to work closely with diverse stakeholders including clients, community partners, funders, and potential donors. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Employee is required to work on a computer and/or by phone for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours a day. Employee will also need to be physically present in the office to support programming staff and during all programming and program events.  

Employee must be able to stoop, reach, grasp, lift, and carry objects up to 25 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The organization is located in an urban area with high foot traffic. The employee will work in an open office space and will be required to manage work with interruptions from phone, visitors, and clients. Some local travel required.
